Dawn Patrol at Monmouth Park

West Long Branch - Ever wondered what goes into running a horse race track? Dawn Patrol is a tour which Monmouth Park offers to the public for free that gives attendees a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on at the race track. Tour groups meet at the clubhouse at 8am where they have a chance to watch the horses and jockeys warm up before the day's races. The group then gets a unique look at where jockeys prepare for races and the gear they use while out on the track. Afterwards, guests are able to board a tram that takes the tour group over to the stables to see how the horses are groomed and cared for when not racing. The tram stops over by the starting gate so that the group has the chance to see what goes into getting a horse who's ready to run into the starting gate. Tour groups run Saturdays and Sundays at 8am thru August 29th except for July 20th & 21st.
