2020 Chinese New Year Celebration
Holmdel - the Jersey Shore Chinese School held their Chinese New Year celebration at Holmdel High School Feb 1, 2020. Whether of Chinese descent or not, all were invited to join in the festivities. Music filled the auditorium as students from JSCS performed various dances from the Lion and Dragon Dances to the Xinjiang Dance and beyond with decorative and colorful costumes to help ring in the year of the Rat. Proclamations of support were given by the 13th District’s Assemblywoman DiMaso and Assemblyman Scharfenberger as well as Holmdel Mayor Greg Buontempo and Councilman Prakash Santhana acknowledging the cultural importance of the Jersey Shore Chinese School to New Jersey. Holmdel Superintendent Robert McGarry, freeholders Susan Kiley and Lillian Burry and other VIPS were able to join in on the fun onstage where they were invited to take part in a dance to help get the party started.
