2020 Allaire State Park Presidents Day Event
Wall - Allaire State Park held its annual Presidents’ Day celebration at the Historic Village. Visitors to the village preserved as it would have been back in 1836 were treated to a Presidential Scavenger Hunt to see who could find 12 volunteers with masks of U.S. Presidents throughout the village. In addition to the scavenger hunts, visitors could meet with the various craftmen to see how they once celebrated Presidents Day. In the Manager’s House, the hearth cooking shared how to make Martha Washington’s Pie while in the wood shop a wood worker explained how the stars we now take as patriotic decoration once had a very important purpose in being part of the construction of buildings back then. The day was topped off with a conversation with Mary Todd Lincoln where she described what life was like in the White House during her husband’s presidency.
