Thanksgiving Day Game 2019 - Middletown North v Middletown South Football
Middletown - Thanksgiving is a holiday all about traditions and coming together as one family. In Middletown, there is also a tradition of the two high schools, Middletown North and Middletown South, coming together as one community for the traditional Thanksgiving Day football game. The winner would be awarded the Middletown Cup, which has chronicled the victor of this game since 1976. For years the game has also served as senior day, where seniors from both schools who participate in the football teams, band, cheer, or dance are recognized. With both teams knocked out of the NJSIAA playoffs, emotions ran high as this game served as a last hurray for the students involved in their beloved friday night lights. After South’s cheerleaders performed on the field during halftime, cheerleaders from North and South came together to help Gregory Casha propose to Middletown South Cheerleading Coach Cristina Fox as cheers filled the stadium. Middletown South would go on to win the game 21-7, and was presented with the Middletown Cup by Board of Education President Pamela Rogers.
